If I were to speak about the time required for preparation for the FRM exam, the time frame may vary for each individual. It all depends on your level of understanding and prior knowledge.
For me, having a prior knowledge of finance through my CFA qualification allowed me to complete the Part 1 syllabus of the FRM exam in just 3 months. However, the time frame for you may be different, it could take 3 months or even longer depending on your level of understanding.
Having professional qualifications in finance, such as a CFA or CMA can certainly give you an advantage in the FRM exam prep. Likewise, having an academic background in finance can also help.
Even if you don’t have a relevant background, with dedication and hard work, you can still pass the exam within a 6 month time frame, or even as quickly as 3 months.

Dear aspirants! The minimum amount of time necessary for the preparation of FRM is 250 hours; therefore, you must devote at least that much time.
Now, let’s divide these 250 hours. Every exam prep you take consists of two sections.
The FRM Level 1 can be divided into 60 chapters. So let’s just suppose that, on average, it will take 120 hours to complete the entire reading portion, including revision, and if you read with Schweser or watch videos.
The question bank now has the same 60 chapters with 30 questions per chapter. It will take 60 minutes to complete each chapter’s questions. 60 hours are needed to complete the question bank.
Additionally, there are evaluation questions, mock exams, and sectional materials that will add another 40 hours. totaling 100 hours.
Use the remaining 20 to 30 hours for revision and answering difficult questions. It takes a total of 250 hours. You must complete 250 hours in total to pass the exam.

I also studied for about 5 to 6 hours on the weekends, sometimes even longer. I was using a study schedule created by prepsmarter, which is available everywhere. Everything hinges on your plan. So I was simultaneously studying and practicing.
I therefore concentrated solely on practicing the Schweser and prep smarter question banks during the final month before the exam. This helped me increase my exam pace so that I could finish each question in under three minutes. Regular practice gives you a feel for how to tackle the question. Your preparation should take three to five months on average. If you are wise in your planning, I guess three months would also work.
All the best!

I adhered to a study schedule provided by Quintedge and made sure to practice as I learned. This improved my ability to recall information and quickly solve exam questions. I spent the last month focusing on answering as many questions and taking as many mock exams as I could. This gave me the confidence I needed to finish each question in under three minutes.
I would advise anyone getting ready for the FRM Part 1 to plan their study carefully and make sure they practice frequently. You can do that by working diligently for three to four months.
