I’ve used his videos, and so far they’ve been a terrific addition to my preparation. I use them because I find his explanations to be clear and understandable when I need more information on specific topics.
Mark goes into too much detail about a subject, which is fantastic but may be difficult to understand and retain if you are revising for an exam.
Other than that, his videos are amazing, and he answers questions quickly. Never before have I witnessed that someone cared so deeply about others’ conceptual grasp. Watching the videos is recommended if you have the time. They’ll be a huge help to you.

My CFA level 1 studies started at the end of September 2018. I initially began with the CFA readings, but I found the book to be a little unclear. I then began to look around and watch Mark’s YouTube tutorials. After watching a few videos, I discovered that Mark’s videos helped me understand the material far better than the CFA readings do. I follow these procedures to prepare for the L1 exam:
- In a notepad, list the LOC for each part.
- Play the video at 1.5x the normal speed.
- If necessary, take notes.
- Finish the chapter’s final exercises.
- Go over the response and mark the incorrect question for later assessment.

Without enough mock practice, passing is really tough. They are vitally essential. I just used Mark’s videos, and I tackled the EOC questions from the CFA books and the practice tests available on the CFA website.

I advise you to only use his video solutions if you intend to work in finance or are just taking this course for knowledge. He’s got a PhD. He is an excellent teacher. He provides a solid foundation for you. And once the foundation is in place, everything else moves with clarity.
When I was looking for answers to some particular questions about level 1, I came across his lecture series on YouTube. Since the majority of his level 1 lecture is free to watch on YouTube, I watched most of them. Try it first, and then accept it. After passing it, I signed up for the level 2 premium course on his website.
Mark has been a huge source of inspiration for me.

Mark Meldrum’s teaching style is amazing, and there isn’t a better way to describe it, in my opinion. His videos could seem time-consuming or lengthy to someone with a strong foundation in finance. On the other hand, a person without a strong background in finance can be searching for just that.
Watching Meldrum’s videos is advised if you are a recent graduate who can manage their time well and does not currently have other time commitments in order to establish a strong foundation.
In light of this, it is advised that you pick your test prep based on your own particular goals for taking the CFA rather than just what other people are doing, as well as your capacity to devote sufficient time to the preparation.
