As you must be knowing now that all the ACCA exams are now CBEs (i.e. Computer Based Exams). So, for CBEs, an on-screen calculator will be available, and students can choose between a standard or scientific calculator.
Students are also allowed to bring their own calculator to the exam, provided it does not have the facility to store or display text.
The above is as per the ACCA guideline. In summary, you can use on screen calculator or physical calculator – whether normal (e.g. CITIZEN 555N – please make sure it is original as there are lot of duplicate calculators in the online/offline marketplace) or scientific (e.g. CASIO fx 82ms). Also, you shouldn’t rely on smartphones as the same will not be allowed to be used as calculators. So, start practising through On-screen or Physical calculators.
My personal suggestion for you will be to go for a basic physical Scientific calculator like CASIO fx 82ms as it covers certain functions not covered in the normal calculator and these functions are actually required to be used in the exams.
